I’ve always dressed a little quirky, evolving from skater-not-so-chic to moderately glamourless, [and back again] and have never felt I fit into any one box. Nevertheless in 2015 I worked rather hard to be somewhat confident in myself and my capabilities. I put myself in a number of situations that would have otherwise shook me to my core, by having my photo taken on numerous occasions and reluctantly putting myself forward for far more opportunities. It’s almost bizarre to think of the person I started 2015 as, a – far more – insecure person, deleting every other selfie on her Instagram profile and elevating every individual but herself.
My biggest goal for 2015 – sad as it may seem – was to feel comfortable in front of a camera, professional and otherwise. After all, the likes of Grace Jones and Naomi Campbell wouldn’t be where they are today without flashing a smize or three thousand, at the many cameras surrounding them. With the help of my idols, my partner and the art of ‘coming into my own‘, I’d like to think I’ve met that target.
Although delayed, my final project of 2015 comes courtesy of the talented Stefan Docs whose work I’ve admired for quite some time now. His approach in shooting you in your element, makes the process of, all the more fun. With that said here is I, windswept hair and unapologetically me.
